About Us

Rimrock’s downtown ministry was started back in 2012 by Steve Balsley, the head pastor at that time, with the vision of Jesus’ followers living and breathing in the heart of the city.  What started as a place for small groups to meet throughout the week has grown into a second campus with a community of hundreds of people that gather regularly on Sunday mornings and throughout the week.


But Sunday morning gatherings and small groups aren’t all we want to do…

RD continues to strive to live out the vision on which it was founded - demonstrating the love of Jesus in the heart of our city.  To help us do this, back in 2023, God opened the doors to allow us to purchase the old Rapid City Journal building at a fraction of the going rate. With a 23,000 sq ft on Main Street, our vision grew to include partnering with other Christ-center, local ministries, like G&P Skate Ministry, Fork Real Café and Love Inc, which God is using to bring his love and truth into the lives of people that don’t tend to frequent traditional churches. Out of this partnership and collective desire to love everyone, Rimrock Downtown, Fork Real Cafe and G&P now all operate out of 507 Main, a place we call The Exchange.



Rimrock Downtown is far different than the traditional approach to church, and there’s only one way to discover the beauty of a multi-faceted approach to bringing the Kingdom of God into our city - come check it out!


Sunday Services

Rimrock Downtown offers children’s and youth ministries during our Sunday morning services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., alongside our full worship gatherings. Beginning February 22, we will also hold a 5:30 p.m. service; please note that children’s ministry and nursery will not be available during the evening service. 

Nursery

Sunday morning childcare for infants and toddlers.
  • There is a single check-in station upstairs outside the nursery door.
  • Every child needs a security name tag to be admitted into the nursery
  • Anyone wanting to pick up a child from our classrooms must show the security tag with a matching number to the child’s tag. This process ensures that your child only leaves with an authorized individual.

Children

  • Check in stations are located downstairs outside the classrooms.

Youth

SUNDAY MORNING YOUTH GROUP
For Middle School & High School Students (grades 6-12)
  • Meet in the Rimrock Community Lounge at 10:15 am.
  • We'll head to The Hive at Main Street Square together. We'll be back by 11:30 am.

At Rimrock Downtown, we operate out of the philosophy that We are the Church and are continually trying to engage with the truths found in Ephesians 2.10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Where Should I park at rimrock downtown?

  • We have a small parking lot located just behind the church at the corner of 5th & St. Joseph.
  • The Downtown Parking Garage offers free parking on Sundays and is a very short walk to Rimrock Downtown's front entrance.
  • Downtown street parking is free on Sundays, so feel free to park in any spot along the street.
