Meet the staff

About Us

Our Downtown campus was started back in 2012 by Steve Balsley, the head pastor of Rimrock, with the vision of Jesus’ followers living and breathing in the heart of the city. What started as a place for small groups to meet throughout the week has grown into a legitimate campus with a community of hundreds of people that gather regularly. RD has a full bi-vocational staff that lead our community in studying the Bible, many different types of social gatherings, worship, and pouring God’s truth and life into our kids. But Sunday morning gatherings and small groups aren’t all we want to do.

RD continues to strive to live out the vision on which it was founded - demonstrating the love of Jesus in the heart of our city. To do this, we partner with many different parachurch ministries that live this out in unique, out-of-the-church-box sort of ways. Ones like G&P Skate Ministry, Young Life, Fork Real Café, InterVarsity and Campus Venture, Shift Garage Car Ministry, Love Inc and Sacred Hoops. Each of these, and more, are bringing God’s love and truth into the lives of people that don’t tend to frequent traditional churches. Because of the power of what they are doing, RD is continually partnering with these ministries to help bring about God’s kingdom in Rapid City.

At Rimrock Downtown, we operate out of the philosophy that We are the Church and are continually trying to engage with the truths found in Ephesians 2.10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Our Sunday Services

Rimrock Downtown offers children's and youth services on Sunday mornings in addition to our full services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Nursery

Sunday morning childcare for infants and toddlers.

There is a single check-in station upstairs outside the nursery door.
Every child needs a security name tag to be admitted into the nursery
Anyone wanting to pick up a child from our classrooms must show the security tag with a matching number to the child’s tag. This process ensures that your child only leaves with an authorized individual.

Children
