The Exchange, a place of grace & truth

The Exchange exists to be “a place where Rimrock Church and other Christ-centered ministry demonstrate the love of Jesus.” Its vision was born out of a desire for a church building to be far more than just a place where people gather for an hour or two twice a week and then sits empty. Rimrock wants it to be used 7 days a week in endless ways, but each one with the single goal of showing people that the God of the Bible is real, that he is good and that he wants to daily engage with them.

Out of this vision, before we even began remodeling the old Rapid City Journal, we created a team to think and pray through who to invite into partnership at the Exchange. After many hours, we determined that Fork Real Café and G&P Indoor Skatepark would be a good fit. Fork Real Café not only makes delicious breakfast and lunch; even more so, they love people really well. Among many other things, they have a pay-what-you-can philosophy and love giving “houseless” people a chance to work for a meal. G&P Skate’s vision is to “Teach, Mentor, Disciple,” and they do this through skateboarding. A prime example of this being lived out is at Skate Church. Every Tuesday and Wednesday evening, anyone is allowed to skate for free and then are fed a meal while being shared the gospel.

With the guiding vision that the Exchange has, the passionate people that are striving to make it happen, the location that we have been given, and, above all else, the God who has been making it all happen, what can and will happen through this place is bigger than we can ever imagine. The God that we serve has given us an incredible opportunity with this space, and we want to honor him by passionately following his leading, whatever that may be.
