Family Ministry

Our desire and hope is to see your marriage and family grow in the love, grace, and power of the Lord. With that in mind, please take advantage of these resources.

Whether you're new to Rimrock or simply want to meet and connect with the pastors leading ministry to students and children, we are inviting you to Parent-Pastor Connection. Drew Meyer and Boomer Roland want to meet with parents to share the values and purposes that drive their ministries, talking about upcoming activities and answering questions from parents.
The next one is scheduled for April 30; Hope you can make it!

Ahhh summer. The smell of freshly mowed grass. The giggle of children playing in sprinklers. The warm sun heating the air, making the shade a welcomed relief.
Summer also brings to mind camp. Rimrock has a long-standing tradition of summer camp and this year brings three NEW options from Hallawasa Bible Camp in Custer, SD.

  • Day Camp - July 15: Camp is awesome. Little kids are awesome. Put them together and you get double awesome! Day Camp is new for 2017. Kids entering 1st grade in the fall are invited to a full day of fun, stories, crafts, games and campy snacks. Boomer and Angie Roland will be leading this camp.
  • Overnight Camp - July 22-23: Big stuff for big kids! Those entering 2nd or 3rd grade in the fall now have chance to spend one overnight at Camp Hallawasa! Enjoy many of the activities that make Games, snacks, stories, friends, fun, crafts and loads of laughs. Boomer and Angie Roland will be leading this camp.
  • Adventure Camp - July 9-14: A new opportunity for high school seniors (incoming and outgoing) and those that are college age – especially Hallawasa Alumni! This backpacking trip will include wilderness camping, rock climbing, rappelling, kayaking and other challenging activities in the depths of the Black Hills. Our goal is to unplug from the culture, comfort, and expectations while deepening a relationship with Christ and others. Space is limited. The 12 campers will be chosen by lottery.
Of course, Hallawasa offers week-long camps for 4th-12th graders also.
Get more information and register for any of these camps at Don't delay! Registrations received by June 1 will include a FREE CAMP T-SHIRT.

The Gospel Project Class

The Bible is ONE STORY, with ONE THEME: God's plan to rescue people through Jesus Christ. Beginning September 11, adults are invited to explore this story one week at a time. Every adult is invited and encouraged to participate in this three year journey through the scriptures. We are especially excited to invite parents to study the same story their children are learning that very week! Our hope is to equip parents with confidence to start conversations with their kids during the week that include God's Word and faith. Come join us on this new adventure!

Commissioning Ceremony (formerly Baby Dedication).
For many, the idea that God has commissioned parents to pass faith to their children is a new concept. We see it all throughout the Bible (Deut 6; Eph 6; Ps 78). We also see moments when parents publicly acknowledged their commission to the faith community (Josh 24:14-15; Luke 2:22-40). Rimrock provides several times throughout the year for parents who realize their commission to publicly
acknowledge that and ask for the church family's partnership. We recognize that this realization may come later in a child's life, so these "Commissioning Ceremonies" are open to any parent, not just those with infants. Watch for details or contact the office to participate.
Commissioning Ceremonies coming in March 5, June 11, September 17 and December 3.

Preschool Story Hour at the Exchange

Parents are invited to bring their preschool age kids for story time! We will offer a story, crafts, snacks & fun for the little ones while a parent enjoys coffee & conversation with other parents.
Wednesdays 9:30-10:30 through May 3 2017

 Family Worship

We see value in helping kids engage with the larger church family, including /files/My Sample Gallery/parents_and_children.jpg"adult" worship. Parents have incredible impact when modeling worship for their kids. That's why we intentionally choose several special weekends for parents and kids (elementary-high school) to worship together. We want these weekends to be a blessing, not a burden, so we provide some extra resources and suggestions/instructions so parents can prepare their kids to fully engage during the service. Watch your email for instructions leading up to these Family Worship dates:  May 28, September 3, November 26 and December 24.
